If you love Italian food like we do, you can tell the difference when a restaurant takes great care in selecting the perfect ingredients. For centuries, authentic Italian foods have teased our taste buds into a frenzied state; thoughts of fresh Italian grown tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and tangy arugula have us salivating for more.
Whether you are an Italian bistro or have just one or two Italian items on your menu, the ingredients you use tell your customers a lot about your establishment. Customers may not have an enhanced palate to tell whether or not your tomatoes came from Italy, but we’d be willing to bet that if you made an entrée on your menu with authentic Italian ingredients and compared the same dish made with other vendors’ products from a different country, you and your customers would quickly note the differences.
The key to operating a successful establishment is to use the right tools (in this case food) for the job. When you choose to work with the best ingredients, your dedication will show in your menu. Customers will remark on the authentic flavors and you will have earned a patron for life.
Authentic ingredients from Italy follow a stringent regulated process that overshadows other countries. Additionally, Italian farmers use minimal pesticides and chemicals, if any, in order to keep the flavors as original as possible. If you are still asking yourself, ‘What’s the difference? What’s the big deal?’, then consider this example of authenticity regarding Parmesan cheese…
In Italy, parmesan cheese is called Parmigiano-Reggiano. Parmigiano-Reggiano must follow requirements by law in regards to aging, the food the milk-producing cows eat, as well as be produced in certain, specific regions. Conversely, in other countries including America, parmesan does not have the same regulations. Most likely, a Parmesan cheese from any other country except Italy is an imitation. Granted, there are many amazing cheesemakers in the world, but if you have the opportunity to cater to your authentic cuisine, then only the best will do.
So why take chances? You want your customers to return time again, and to post on social media that you have the best Italian food. Don’t let them visit your competition only to discover a difference in flavors because your ingredients are not true Italian varieties.
At Casa Foods, we take our job of providing quality, authentic ingredients to serve the needs of our clients very serious. Our hope is that our products take your customers’ taste buds on a virtual trip to the Mediterranean.
